We offer a variety of non-residential courses:
For children: -
Fun Days and own a pony days during the school holidays. 4-day course (Tues - Fri) summer holidays. These are constructive courses teaching all aspects of stable management as well as riding, culminating in an A.B.R.S weekly rider test for which certificates (internationally recognised) are awarded.
For Adults: -
Various courses tailored to suit the individual. We are a satellite centre for Otley College. This means we are able to supply 'out reach' courses, backed by the college without clients actually having to attend the main college. There are both full time (15 hours) and part time (8 hours) courses, working towards A.B.R.S exams or N.V.Q. These courses are great fun, very popular and have attainable goals.
Funday Information
These days are designed to give the children an insight to what is involved in looking after a pony.
The days usually consist of catching the ponies from the field (with assistance), grooming, tackling up (again assisted). The reasons and techniques involved are all explained and there is plenty of 'hands on' experience. Riding is on a lead rein if necessary and is either a walk out or a lesson. In the afternoons we usually have a fun event i.e. Easter egg hunt.
The smallest children each have a 'personal minder' and are looked after to the best of our ability. The older ones are encouraged to be more independent. We endeavour to widen the children's knowledge of pony / horse care so they can enjoy the whole experience of being around as well as riding ponies / horses.
