Fun Days
Fun Days usually consist of a small amount of fun stable management, perhaps a best dressed tail competition or something similar and 2 rides, one in the morning and one afternoon which will include games or a treasure hunt and culminate with the awarding of a Coach House Stables rosette.
These days start promptly at 10.30am. Please be here by 10.15am.
Clothing – please wear suitable clothes for the ever changing weather! If it is likely to be wet, a change of clothes and Wellington boots are advisable. Please bring a packed lunch and extra drinks and snacks to have at break time.
The day ends at 3.30pm.
Beginners Mornings
The morning consists of an introduction to ponies, including how to handle them safely and a ride which will be mostly in the arena and may finish with a ‘walk out’.
All ponies and riders have their own dedicated leader/helper and the instructor. These mornings are limited to 6 clients per session.
The morning starts at 10am and finishes at 12.30am.
Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather. We ride outdoors. Also, please ensure you bring a drink.
Own A Pony DayS
Is similar to the Fun Day, but has more emphasis on handling and safe management as well as riding.
Stable Management Days
This course is based on the the three ABRS Helpers tests; , entry, intermediate and senior levels, these are based on a log book which we supply for each client on this course. During the course the log book is explained, and each element is started. The client then completes each element when they come to the riding school to help, so it can take a few weeks depending how often the client comes to the school. When it is complete it is sent off to ABRS Head Quarters, and a certificate is issued. This has been a huge help with safety issues for helpers, and provides invaluable training for our helpers.
Once again, appropriate clothing needs to be worn along with stout shoes. Clients need to bring a packed lunch and extra drinks and snacks.
3-Day Course
The 3 day courses are based on the ABRS progressive rider tests. These start from basics and work towards advanced. Normally one test is taken per course. 2 days are spent working towards the test which is divided between stable management and riding. On the final morning the test is taken, and then in the afternoon a fun session takes place, and each rider is awarded a rosette.
